Rithal is one of the biggest villages in Rohtak District consisting more than 15000 populations. Two gram panchayats are there with the name Rithal-Phaugat and Rithal-Narwal. Rithal was founded in 13th centaury. Originally the founder of the village was a Rajput named Rathu and upon his name, the name of the village is called Rithal. Peoples of Rithal belong with all casts. Village Rithal is popular in the whole area for its peaceful environment and full of resources. The people of this village are very co-operative and very simple.
The village is located near to Rohtak (Haryana).The place has a history of farming community which have been sowing mainly wheat, rice, sugar cane, bajra. The villagers are very religious and take part in various holy occasions.
The major Kharif crops of Rithal are rice, jowar, bajra, maize, cotton and sugarcane. For these crops the ground is prepared in April and May and the seeds are sown at the commencement of rains in June. The crops are ready for harvesting by the beginning of November. The major Rabi crops are wheat and mustard. The ground is prepared by the end of October or the beginning of November and the crops are harvested by March.
Irrigation canals form the lifeline of agriculture in Rithal. The main irrigation canal of Rithal is the Western Yamuna Canal. It takes off at Tajewala from the river Yamuna. This canal irrigates the districts of Kurukshetra, Karnal, Jind, Sonipat and Rohtak.
